The University of Osaka is working to address social issues by promoting co-creation with society, creating new value, and fostering outstanding talent.

The Institute for Advanced Co-Creation Studies was established in December 2016 as a university-wide organization with the generous support of donations from industry and various organizations. Its mission is to recruit and nurture internationally outstanding young researchers who possess advanced research management capabilities and high ethical standards, and who can lead world-class academic research.

In fiscal year 2017, the Institute began hiring researchers in bioscience-related fields, later expanding into information science. From fiscal year 2020, in a further development based on the principles of diversity and inclusion, the Institute began utilizing the university’s own funds to employ outstanding researchers across all fields, including the humanities and social sciences. As a result, a total of 25 young researchers had been hired as of April 2025.

Researchers (specially designated professors) affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Co-Creation Studies conduct cutting-edge and flagship research that promotes collaboration, supported by the research environments of their concurrent departments, contributing to the advancement of the Industry on Campus initiative. We will continue to foster an environment that enables researchers to pursue their research activities freely and creatively. As a “seat of learning,” we will cultivate individuals who will lead the next generation with creativity and practical skills.

Together with the members of the Institute for Advanced Co-Creation Studies, we will embody the vision of “mastering specialized fields and pioneering interdisciplinary areas,” and strive to build a world-class research center. We sincerely appreciate your continued understanding and cooperation.
